The Wellfleet Historical Society

The Wellfleet Historical Society was organized in 1951 to foster an interest in the town and its history.  Membership is open to all residents and visitors to Wellfleet.  Dues are $10.00 a year for individuals and $15.00 a year for families (or $l00 for lifetime membership), and may be paid at the Museum on Main Street.  The public is invited to visit the Museum - admission is free although a donation is appreciated.  It is also appreciated if children under 12 are accompanied by an adult.

The society's collection includes old photographs, maps, documents, marine artifacts, Indian artifacts, a small collection of period clothing, household, agricultural and commerce related items.  Special theme exhibits are planned for summer months.

Monthly meetings take place May through September with varied programs and speakers.  A schedule of these free programs can be viewed on our Programs and Events page or on our handy Event Calendar page.  Refreshments are served and all are welcome.  The Society's newsletter, "The Beacon" is published each spring  and is distributed to our members.  "The Beacon" can also be viewed and printed from our website: Click Here.

The Museum Hours are:
Tuesday and Friday, 10am-4pm
Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, 1-4pm
The Museum is closed on Sunday.

Guided Walking Tours take place on
Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:15am.
