The Wellfleet Historical Society was organized in 1951 to foster an interest
in the town and its history. Membership is open to all residents and
visitors to Wellfleet. Dues are $5.00 a year and may be paid at the
Museum on Main Street. The public is invited to visit the Museum -
admission is free although a donation is appreciated. It is
also appreciated if children under 12 are accompanied by an adult.
The society's collection includes old
photographs, maps, documents, marine artifacts, Indian artifacts, a small
collection of period clothing, household, agricultural and commerce related
items. Special theme exhibits are planned for summer months.
Monthly meetings take place May through September with varied programs
and speakers. A schedule of these free programs can be viewed at our
calendar of events.
Refreshments are served and all are welcome. The Society's newsletter,
"The Beacon" is published each spring and is distributed to our
members.
